PORT CLINTON -- After more than three hours, State Rt. 2 between state routes 53 and 163 reopened after downed power lines were cleared from the roadway, the Ohio Department of Transportation said.

The highway was closed in both directions between the State Rt. 163 and the State Rt. 53 north exit. The routes reopened at 6:30 p.m.

A police dispatcher earlier said the incident occurred at about 3 p.m., and that the road would be closed while Toledo Edison crews repair the lines, which were downed along the highway during construction in the area.
