FREMONT — Two people were flown from Fremont to a Toledo hospital early today after police responding to a trouble call found them with bleeding wounds, authorities said.

The pair, whose names were not released, were initially taken to ProMedica Memorial Hospital in Fremont, where they were transported to Toledo by a medical helicopter, according to Fremont police. One of the two had puncture wounds to the torso and neck areas, police said.

The two were found about 2:20 a.m. at Howland Street and North Ohio Avenue, suffering from the wounds, officers said in a written statement. It was unclear whether the two were found inside or outside.

The incident is being investigated as stabbing and assault, according to police, who released no further information.

Fremont, the seat of Sandusky County, is about 33 miles southeast of Toledo.
