The cause of death for an 84-year-old Holland woman whose body was found in a ditch Sunday will not be known for several weeks, although it does not appear that foul play was involved.

An autopsy was performed today on Adamae Schooner. Lucas County Deputy Coroner Dr. Maneesha Pandey said Ms. Schooner did not have any injuries that were "immediately fatal."

She did have "abrasions and contusions" on her face and legs that appeared to be from a fall, Dr. Pandey said.

Dr. Pandey is waiting to see Ms. Schooner's medical history and to get results from toxicology tests before making a ruling on a cause and manner of death. Toxicology tests typically take 6 to 8 weeks.

Ms. Schooner was reported missing on Sunday, leaving a note at home saying she was going out for food.

Her grandson, Robert Wilson, who helped coordinate the search from his home in Cincinnati, said Ms. Schooner was recently diagnosed with dementia.

Mr. Wilson said he did not know where in Holland she was found or how far from home she had walked. He did not know which hospital she was taken to.

Police have not returned calls for comment.
