PORT CLINTON — Two people were injured, one of them seriously, when three pickup trucks collided Monday on State Rt. 163 east of State Rt. 269 near this Ottawa County community, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Joseph Radacoy, 73, of Gulfport, Miss., who was driving one of the vehicles, was taken to Magruder Hospital with “incapacitating injuries,” according to a prepared statement released today by the patrol‘s Sandusky post. A hospital spokesman said she had no information about a person by that name.

Brittany Armstrong, 17, of Port Clinton, another driver, was also taken with Magruder but with only “minor injuries,” the patrol said. The hospital spokesman said she had no information about her neither.

Richard Persico, 57, of Gulfport, NY, the driver of the third vehicle, was turning left into a private driveway from westbound Route 163 about 3:10 p.m. when he failed to yield the right of way and drove into the path of the eastbound Radacoy pickup, causing the two vehicles to collide. Then Ms. Armstrong‘s vehicle, which was driving behind the Radacoy pickup, struck it in the rear.

Mr. Persico was issued a traffic citation, according to the statement. He was not injured.

All drivers wore a seat belt, the patrol said.

The crash occurred about four miles east of Port Clinton, the Ottawa County seat, which is about 40 miles east of Toledo.
