The last of four men charged in an altercation on the University of Toledo campus that ended with one man stabbed and another beaten pleaded no contest Tuesday to aggravated riot.

Sheldon Wendel, 21, of 1739 Wyndhurst Rd., was then found guilty by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Linda Jennings, who set sentencing for July 9. A charge of felonious assault is to be dismissed at that time.

Michael Loisel, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, said Wendel was riding in a car about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 23 when he and the other occupants confronted two men who were walking. A fight ensued, resulting in the stabbing of Wendel’s friend, Cody Halka.

Mr. Loisel said Wendel and his other friends chased down the man who had stabbed young Halka, beating him until he was unconscious.
