MONROE - A Taylor, Mich., man was seriously injured this morning when his motorcycle collided with a car in Frenchtown Township, the Monroe County Sheriff‘s Department said.

Lynn R. Skeans, 69, was northbound on North Dixie Highway near Monrona Drive on his 2002 BMW motorcycle at about 11 a.m. when he collided with Dakota Tehotsirate-Piscopink Frazier, age 21, who had been southbound in a 1988 Chevrolet Corvette on the road and turned left onto Monrona Drive. Mr. Frazier failed to yield when he turned, according to the sheriff’s department.

Mr. Skeans was thrown from his motorcycle and struck a speed limit sign, the sheriff‘s department said. He was wearing a helmet.

He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe. He was still listed in serious condition when he was transferred to Mercy St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo by helicopter, according to the sheriff’s department.

The hospital had no information on a patient by that name this afternoon.

Mr. Frazier and a passenger, Mason J. Sovey, 19, of Monroe, were not injured in the crash. Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff‘s department.

The crash remains under investigation.
