A West Toledo man was seriously hurt Wednesday when he was struck by a vehicle on Monroe Street near Douglas Road, authorities said.

Zachary Bugaj, 27, of Cheltenham Road, was listed in critical condition in ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was struck about 9 p.m. by a vehicle driven by Reginald Cole, 62, of Columbus.

Toledo police said Mr. Bugaj was riding his bicycle southeast on Monroe Street in the right lane near the curb and was struck by the south-bound vehicle that was attempting to cross Monroe from Bellevue Road.

Mr. Cole, who was not hurt, was at fault in the accident, said Sgt. Joe Heffernan. The accident remains under investigation.
