An 8-year-old boy was taken to Toledo Hospital Saturday evening from the lake at Olander Park in Sylvania after divers brought him to shore.

The boy, whose name was not released, was reported missing by his family about 6:30 p.m., Sylvania police Chief William Rhodus said. Divers emerged from the lake nearly two hours later.

His condition was not immediately known.

“Nobody saw him go in the lake...They just lost sight of him,” Chief Rhodus said. The boy was at the park for a family gathering.

The park was searched when he was reported missing, as a precaution, but authorities believe he was in the water the whole time, Chief Rhodus said.

The Sylvania Township fire department was assisted by divers with the Toledo Fire Department. Sylvania and Toledo police also were on scene.
