The Toledo Police Department’s second auction this year of forfeited and abandoned vehicles resulted in 95 sales generating more than $109,000 in revenue Saturday morning.
Eleven vehicles forfeited as a result of criminal prosecutions yielded $13,650 for the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Officer Dalton Wilkinson said. Nearly half that came from just two vehicles, a 2005 Dodge Maxima that sold for $4,900 and a 2005 Chevrolet Blazer that fetched $2,650.
The other 84 vehicles at the auction had been abandoned. Prices ranged from $400 for a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero to $6,200 for a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, Officer Wilkinson said. Other sales, he said, included the $1,900 purchase of a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass and $3,900 for a 2006 Chrysler 300.
A motorcycle frame, without engine or wheels, sold for $25.
The $95,725 in proceeds from the vehicles, less the cost of setting up the auction, will go into Toledo’s general fund, he said.
