The body of a man was found in a Northwood motel room Friday by a maid who was cleaning rooms.

Northwood police identified the man as Johnny Ray Willett, Jr., 48, of Lima, Ohio. The body was taken to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Sgt. Doug Hubaker said the man was found in a second-floor room at America’s Best Value Inn on Oregon Road.

The maid told officers, who were at the motel serving unrelated drug-related search warrants, about the body at 11:22 a.m., the sergeant said.

Police would not comment on whether there were any obvious signs of trauma on the body. The body was found alone. Officers said the man checked in Thursday evening.

Officers who executed the drug-related search warrants had previously responded there to a domestic-violence call when they spotted drug paraphernalia. During the search, officers found a small amount of cocaine and $1,500 cash.
