Motorcyclist flown to hospital after crash in Berlin Township
7/5/2014HURON, Ohio -- A motorcyclist from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, was flown to a Toledo hospital following a crash Saturday on Smokey Road near State Route 61 in Erie County's Berlin Township, state troopers said.
The Ohio Highway Patrol said Chad Scott Rhoades, 42, drove off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole before being thrown from his 2010 Harley-Davidson.
The crash was reported at 5 p.m.
Mr. Rhoades, who investigators said was not wearing a helmet, was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Troopers were investigating what caused Mr. Rhoades to lose control of his motorcycle.
A hospital spokesman said St.Vincent did not have a patient by that name.
