Fire out but factory leveled at Michigan factory

    • LESLIE, Mich. — Cleanup efforts have begun at the scene of a fire that destroyed a Michigan factory and prompted the evacuation of a number of nearby residents,

    The fire was reported around 8:10 p.m. Tuesday at ISC Plating in Leslie, about 20 miles southeast of Lansing. Ingham County deputy emergency manager Rob Dale says three people needed treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

    WILX-TV says the fire burned for about eight hours, and at least a dozen people sought shelter at a nearby school.

    Walls and part of the roof collapsed at the metal plating facility, which also houses offices.

    Leslie city manager Brian Reed said Wednesday that officials are monitoring for hazardous chemicals and conditions appear safe for residents.
