Toledo woman killed, 10-year-old injured in Monroe crash

MONROE -- A Toledo woman was killed and a 10-year-old child was injured in a Thursday night crash, according to the Monroe County Sheriff‘s Office.‍

Teresa Wasching, 50, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Goetz Road, about a half mile west of Sylvania Petersburg Road. The child, who was not named in a news release, was taken by helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. Deputies said the child suffered “serious injuries,” although the condition was not known early today.

Deputies reported that, at about 7:40 p.m., Ms. Wasching was driving westbound on Goetz when her vehicle went off the north side of the road, over corrected to be left of center before it went into a ditch and struck a cement culvert.

The crash remains under investigation.
