A semi-tractor trailer caught fire on the Ohio Turnpike this evening, blocking traffic in both directions in western Lucas County, near the Fulton County line.

Eastbound lanes reopened about 11 p.m. and one westbound lane reopened about 11:10 p.m., according to the Ohio Highway Patrol‘‍s Berea post.

Crews had responded about 10 p.m. to the incident in the turnpike‘‍s westbound lanes, several miles east of the Toledo Express Airport exit.

For much of the next hour, both westbound and eastbound lanes were blocked because of the fire and motorists were urged to take a different route, according to a message posted to the Ohio Turnpike’s Twitter feed.
