Toledo teen killed after car-bike accident

A Toledo teenager was killed when he was hit by a car while riding a bicycle in Springfield Township this afternoon.

Harvey Bell III, 17, of Toledo, was riding a bicycle along McCord Road north of Angola Road at 5:24 p.m. when his bike was struck by a car driven by Hannah McAuley, 17, of Holland, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. Both the bicyclist and the driver were traveling in the southbound lane of McCord.

The Bell youth was not wearing a helmet, the patrol said. He was taken to University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the patrol said. 

The incident remains under investigation.
