Police investigate crash on South Avenue that left 5 injured

Toledo police were investigating a Monday afternoon crash that injured five people, including two children.

Police said the crash happened at 12:56 p.m. when a Ford Crown Victoria driven by Tanisha Madyun, 4101 Upton Ave., Toledo, was driving west on South Avenue collided with a Chevrolet Suburban being driven north on Broadway Street by Kyle Groesbeck, 28, of 215 Plymouth St., Toledo.

Mr. Groesbeck and Ms. Madyun suffered minor injuries, police said. Three children who were backseat passengers in the Crown Victoria, Messiah Pettaway, 3; Marcus Boose, 4, and Marcel Boose, 1, also of the Upton address, suffered serious injuries in the crash, police said.

All five were taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. Monday evening only the Pettaway youth was in the hospital, in critical condition.
