Police identify pedestrian hit, killed on Airport Hwy.

Hit-skip crash occurred Sunday night

Police have identified a pedestrian who was killed in a hit-skip crash Sunday near the Springfield Township and Holland Village line. 

A pedestrian, Thaddeus Lee Wegrzynowski, 49, of Whitehouse, died as a result of his injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. 

The incident took place just before 8:30 p.m. on Airport Highway near Holloway Road.

A 2000 Chevrolet Venture and a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser were traveling west on Airport Highway, approaching Holloway Road, police said. The driver of the Chevrolet has not been identified. The Chrysler was driven by Demarie Therese Dull, 58, of Lamerbertville, Mich., The traffic light was green for the westbound traffic on Airport Highway as the Chevrolet and Chrysler approached Holloway Road. 

Mr. Wegrzynowski was walking north in the crosswalk on the east side of the intersection, troopers said. Mr. Wegrzynowski was struck by the Chevrolet and he came to rest in the roadway. The Chevrolet was driven from the scene to a parking lot.

A short time later, Mr. Wegrzynowski was struck by the Chrysler driven by Ms. Dull. She was not injured. 

The driver of the Chevrolet is still under investigation. The three occupants of the vehicle were not injured. 

No charges have been filed at this time.
