Police: Charges loom for driver who hit bicyclist

Toledo police said Monday charges are pending against a Maumee man who was driving a car that struck a bicyclist over the weekend.

Rona Proudfoot, 38, of Toledo was riding her bicycle in the southbound lanes of the 400 block of North Reynolds Road in South Toledo about 7 p.m. Friday, police said.

A vehicle driven by Ramiz Bcharah, 23, of Maumee, was also traveling in the southbound lanes and struck Ms. Proudfoot, police said.

Ms. Proudfoot suffered serious injuries to her hip and legs, and was admitted to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital.

Mr. Bcharah was not hurt.
