Fulton County: Requests for alcohol on ballot

DELTA - Voters in Fulton County will cast ballots for a variety of issues on Nov. 2, including local options in the York Township north precinct for new businesses near Delta.

Country Corral, 7910 State Rt. 109, is seeking permission to sell beer, wine, mixed beverages, and spirituous liquor from 10 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.

In a separate issue, Winchesters Restaurant & Saloon, 7950 State Rt. 109, which is adjacent to the Country Corral, is seeking voter approval for two local option questions. The business is seeking permission to sell spirituous liquor by individual drink in the restaurant, and is asking that it be allowed to sell spirituous liquor from 1 p.m. to midnight on Sundays.

Country Corral, a convenience store and travel center with fuel facilities for cars and trucks, opened fulltime in February, said owner Dick Kleck. His son-in-law and daughter, Ed and Lisa Walter, are the owners/operators of Winchesters. Finishing touches are being put on the new 150-seat restaurant that should be open for business soon, Mr. Kleck said. Winchesters will include a sports bar.

In Lyons, residents will vote on a local option for Sunday sales at the Village Mart, 118 North Adrian St. The request is to sell beer and wine between 1 p.m. and midnight.

Voters in German Township, including residents in Archbold, are being asked to approve a 1-mill, 5-year renewal levy for road improvements. If approved, the levy would generate $136,598 per year, according to figures provided by Nancy Yackee, Fulton County auditor.

A 1-mill, 5-year replacement levy to provide and maintain fire apparatus, equipment, building, and sites is on the ballot for voters in Amboy Township, including residents in Metamora. If approved, the levy would generate $38,250 per year. The levy is generating $27,926, according to the auditor.

Dover Township residents will vote on a 1-mill, 5-year renewal levy to provide funds for fire, rescue, and ambulance protection services. The levy would generate $17,595 per year.

In Wauseon, residents will be asked to vote on a proposed smoking ban. The smoking issue on the ballot would restrict smoking in most public places but excludes bars.

Voters in Wauseon's precinct 5 will face a local option for Sunday sales.

Countywide, voters are being asked to approve a 1.1-mill, 5-year additional levy to provide and maintain senior citizens services and facilities.
