Kaptur slates public forum to talk about Social Security

U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo) has scheduled a series of town-hall meetings in and around Toledo to discuss Social Security and the Bush administration's plans to shift some of its funding to private accounts.

Miss Kaptur opposes President Bush's plan for private retirement accounts using Social Security funds but is seeking public comments about it.

The first meeting is to be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Sylvania Senior Center, 7140 Sylvania Ave. Other town halls, all free and open to the public, will be:

●March 29: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2529, 604 West Perkins Ave., Sandusky, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

●March 30: Oregon City Council Chambers, 5330 Seaman Rd., Oregon, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

●March 31: Ottawa County Community Resource Center, 8043 West State Rt. 163, Oak Harbor, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

●April 18: Elms Retirement Village, 115 Prospect St., Wellington, Ohio, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

●May 2: Warren AME Church, 915 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
