1st-term Bowling Green councilman resigns seat

BOWLING GREEN - Second Ward Councilman Mike Zickar resigned his seat on city council yesterday because he is moving to Perrysburg Township.

Mr. Zickar, a Democrat, had intended to seek re-election in November, but informed the city he was resigning because his wife had taken a job in the Detroit area and they had bought a home north of here to reduce her commute.

City Solicitor Mike Marsh said council has 30 days to name a replacement.

The Democrat-controlled council could take its lead from the party's precinct committee members in the Second Ward, who plan to meet Thursday night to name a candidate to take Mr. Zickar's place on the November ballot.

Mr. Zickar, an associate professor of psychology at Bowling Green State University, was finishing his first two-year term on city council.
