Frenchtown resident eyes 56th House seat

1/12/2006

MONROE A 47-year-old former cable executive said she will announce today she is seeking the 56th Michigan House seat left vacant last year with the death of Herb Kehrl.

Kate Ebli, who lives in Frenchtown Township and was an area vice president with Comcast, is seeking the Democratic nomination both to fill the remaining portion of Mr. Kehrl s unexpired term and to fill the seat for the 2007-2009 term.

Mrs. Ebli said she plans to campaign on a platform supporting early education and opposing the importation of out-of-state trash and the exporting of local jobs.

This is Mrs. Ebli s first run for elected office.

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm announced last month that Mr. Kehrl s seat would remain vacant until the November general election, leaving only two months remaining to fill in his original term.
