COSI, zoo levy to be discussed on 'The Editors'

11/3/2006

The leaders of COSI Toledo and the Toledo Zoo, institutions that will have levies to be decided by Lucas County voters on Tuesday, are the featured guests this weekend on The Editors television program.

James Hoffman, president of KeyBank and vice chairman of COSI Toledo, will talk about the first levy for the science center, which was established as a self-supporting entity.

The center is requesting a 0.167-mill, five-year levy that would generate $1.4 million a year and cost about $5.11 annually on a $100,000 home.

Ann Baker, executive director of the zoo, will talk about a capital improvement levy for the zoo.

The zoo is requesting a 1-mill, 10-year levy that would take the place of a capital improvement levy that expired in December, 2005. If approved, the capital levy would raise $8.6 million a year and cost $30.62 annually for owners of a $100,000 home.

The Editors will air at 9 tonight on WGTE-TV, Channel 30, and at 12:30 p.m. Sunday on WBGU-TV, Channel 27.
