Webb seeks District 6 City Council position

Point Place resident Lindsay Webb will formally launch her candidacy tomorrow. for the Toledo City Council District 6 seat.

Ms. Webb, 31, a Democrat, said she would focus on restoring "civility and stability" to council and on maintaining Toledo's manufacturing base.

All six council district seats are up for election this year.

District 6, which includes Point Place, parts of West Toledo to Douglas Road, and parts of the Lagrange Village, is represented by Republican Joe Birmingham, who is seeking re-election.

Ms. Webb, who lives at 2828 128th St., has a bachelor's degree and a law degree from the University of Toledo. She is a regional coordinator for the National Employment Law Project, an advocacy group assisting people who have lost manufacturing jobs.

She screened unsuccessfully with the Lucas County Democratic Party for the District 6 endorsement in 1998, and was chairman of the party's central committee from 2000 to 2002.

Ms. Webb was the only Democrat to screen with the party for the endorsement this year for District 6.

Her announcement is set for 11 a.m. in front of Government Center in downtown Toledo.
