Toledoans go to the polls today

HOURS

Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. today for Toledo s primary election.

ON THE BALLOT

Toledo voters will pick city council candidates in Districts 2, 4, and 6. The top two vote-getters in the primary will move on to the Nov. 6 general election.

WHERE TO GO

Voters can determine where their polling location is by calling the Lucas County Board of Elections at 419- 213-2070.

PROOF OF IDENTITY

As proof of identity, voters should take a valid Ohio driver license or a utility bill that shows current address. Voters who do not have the proper identifi cation will have to fill out a provisional ballot and show proof of residency within 10 days of the election.

WHO S RUNNING

The candidates are:

In District 2 Joanna Baron, a lawyer; Molly McHugh Branyan, a Realtor; Mario Campos, a Lowe s sales manager; Ed Cichy, a Kroger customer service coordinator; D. Michael Collins, a University of Toledo instructor; Joe Kidd, a financial analyst; Mary Ann Haupricht, an insurance agent; Steve Leggett, a UT

student; Karen Shanahan, a shipping administrator, and Jeff Simpson, a lawyer.

In District 4 Incumbent Michael Ashford, vice president of urban services for the YMCA and JCC of Greater Toledo, is running against Thomas Meinecke, a retiree; Terry Shankland, a caterer, and Ronnell Traynum, a nurse.

In District 6

Incumbent Joe Birmingham, a Realtor, faces challenges from Dave Ball, who installs fences and decks, and Lindsay Webb, a coordinator for displaced workers.
