National GOP group gets director from Gibsonburg

A Gibsonburg, Ohio, woman was named to the board of directors of the National Federation of Republican Women for the 2008-09 term, Shirley Sadler, the group s president, announced.

The new director, Jean Turner, was president of the Sandusky County Republican Women for a decade.

She also was a vice president of the northwest district of the Ohio Federation of Republican Women in 2006 and for a two-year term in 2008.

Ms. Sadler appointed Ms. Turner, a small business owner for 22 years, to a committee that encourages women to be involved in the Republican Party.

Ms. Turner received the Tribute to Women Award in 2006 as the outstanding Republican woman in Sandusky County from the Ohio Federation of Republican Women.

In addition, she has been campaign chairman through the years for local Republican candidates.

The National Federation of Republican Women, founded in 1938, has more than 1,800 local clubs around the country.
