Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, is scheduled to appear at a West Toledo solar panel manufacturer Wednesday morning to discuss her party’s plan for energy independence.

The Alaska governor is scheduled to appear at Xunlight Corp., 3145 Nebraska Ave., prior to a planned 10:15 a.m. rally in Bowling Green, confirmed Jon Stainbrook, chairman of the Lucas County Republican party.

Xunlight Corp. is a solar energy start-up company that is quickly ramping up production of flexible thin-film photovoltaic solar panels, and has attracted tens of millions of dollars of outside investment from venture capital firms.

Mrs. Palin’s campaign entourage is expected to arrive late Tuesday night at Toledo Express Airport and then remain overnight in Toledo, although the campaign will not disclose the name of the hotel.

The appearance at Xunlight is open only to invited guests. The Bowling Green rally being held Wednesday morning at Anderson Arena is open to the public who have obtained tickets.

Anderson Arena holds approximately 5,500 people. Parking will be available near the football stadium.

Later, Mrs. Palin will appear at a rally in Chillicothe, Ohio.
