U.S. Rep. Ryan of Ohio endorses Fisher for U.S. Senate

COLUMBUS, Ohio Northeast Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan has endorsed Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher in his bid for the U.S. Senate in 2010.

Ryan, who represents Ohio's 17th Congressional District, cited Fisher's commitment to working families in announcing his endorsement Monday.

Ryan was once considered a possible candidate for the Senate seat but chose to stay in his current position.

Fisher is opposed by Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner on the Democratic side. Former Cincinnati Congressman Rob Portman and is Cleveland-area auto dealer Tom Ganley are running on the GOP side.

All the candidates are jockeying for the seat being vacated in January 2011 by Republican George Voinovich.
