Ottawa Hills slips past Cardinal Stritch 33-30

Trailing 17-14 at the half, Ottawa Hills came up with touchdowns by Will Longthorne and Michael Deckebach in the third period to hold off Cardinal Stritch 33-30 last night.

Extra-point attempts provided a vital factor in the outcome.

Ottawa Hills rushed for 338 yards to 173 for Stritch. The Cardinals had an 81-15 passing advantage.

Cardinal Stritch had two extra-point kicks blocked, while Ottawa Hills had a kick blocked and a two-point pass play attempt fail.

Longthorne had 33 carries for 166 yards and two touchdowns for Ottawa Hills. Taylor Savage had 14 carries for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Cardinal Stritch's Kyle Gladieux led all rushers with 23 carries for 183 yards and three TDs.

A.J. Zulewski was 6 for 10 and 81 yards passing for Stritch. The Green Bears' Jimmy Zimmerman was 2 for 6 for 15 yards, but connected for one of the vital third-period touchdowns for Ottawa Hills.

Zach Bermejo had three touchdown, and Erik Russell had two touchdown passes and a scoring run for the host Rangers.

Bermejo and Michael Prothero each led Northwood (2-2) with 82 yards rushing. Bermejo had scoring runs of 13 and 6 yards and an 80-yard kickoff return. Russell had the first score of the game on a one-yard quarterback keeper. He connected with John Romstadt on a 25-yard scoring strike and Prothero on a 15-yard touchdown pass. Russell finished with 115 yards passing.

Edon (0-4) got on the scoreboard when Keegan Long threw a six-yard TD pass to Zach Hug.

Michael Donaldson took a kickoff 89 yards for a score in the third quarter and Shannon Geren had a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Mitchel Faine passed for 469 yards and six touchdowns for Ada in a game played at Springfield.

Keith Jackson had 12 catches for 330 yards and four touchdowns for Ada (4-0).

Toledo Christian quarterback Rick Rightnowar passed for 270 yards and three touchdowns for the Eagles (2-2).

Ryan Huffman caught two passes (12, 7). Graham Miller caught a 79-yarder.

JC Miller kicked a 24-yard field goal for the Eagles (2-2).
