Council candidate quits her campaign in Toledo

Tricia Lyons, a candidate for Toledo City Council, said yesterday she is quitting the campaign because of the demands of a business she started.

Ms. Lyons, an independent who helped organize the conservative coalition Teamwork Toledo and the April 15 Tea Party rally in International Park, finished among the top 12 in the Sept. 15 primary election and is on the Nov. 3 general election ballot. “I'm really overwhelmed right now, and I could not focus on the job I would be required to do for Toledo City Council,” she said.

Linda Howe, Lucas County elections director, said it's too late to take a name off the ballot or add the name of the 13th-place finisher, Mark Clark. She said in the past, signs have been posted at polling places informing voters when candidates have withdrawn.
