Obama coming to Columbus on Friday
6/15/2010COLUMBUS — President Barack Obama will return to Ohio on Friday for the eighth time since he took office less than a year and a half ago.
The White House said Tuesday that the President will visit a yet-to-be-announced location in Columbus. The purpose of the visit has also not been disclosed. Mr. Obama was last in the state's capital in March, 2009 when he welcomed a local police academy class salvaged by his economic stimulus package.
Since then, he's talked health care and the economy in Elyria, Shaker Heights, and Strongsville; rallied with labor in Cincinnati, and visited an auto plant in Lordstown and a steel mill in Youngstown.
The president has not visited northwest Ohio since taking office, although the region is watching to see if his administration will approve Gov. Ted Strickland's request for a federal emergency declaration and financial assistance for tornado-torn Wood, Ottawa, and Fulton counties.
