The Oregon Board of Education unanimously approved Tuesday the creation of a bus shuttle service to pick up high school students starting in January.

Three buses will pick up students who need a ride to Clay High School and local parochial schools at an estimated 10 sites, which is expected to cost $40,000 to $50,000 for the rest of this school year, Superintendent Michael Zalar said.

The district cut busing this year for all high school students. Parents complained at a meeting last month that busing had not been reinstated even though several school administrators received pay raises in August.
