2 challenging incumbent for position on GOP panel
3/4/2012Only one local seat will be contested on Tuesday for the state Republican Party Central Committee after three candidates dropped out last month.
The remaining race, for the male committeeman seat in the 11th Senate District, will involve Lucas County Republican Party Chairman Jon Stainbrook, incumbent committeeman Jonathan Binkley, and challenger Sean Binkley.
All three live in Toledo.
The Lucas County Board of Elections is advising voters of the withdrawals and that votes cast for them won't be counted.
The state central committee elects the state party chairman.
Unopposed are Dee Talmage of Ottawa Hills for the female committeeman's seat in the 2nd District; Meghan Gallagher of Toledo, the incumbent and chairman of the Lucas County Republican Party's central committee, as the female candidate for committeeman in the 11th Senate, and Mark Wagoner, an Ottawa Hills lawyer, for the male committeeman's seat in the 2nd Senate District.
