Vice President Biden gives a pro-union speech in Detroit

DETROIT — Vice President Joe Biden made his third appearance in Michigan in less than two months today, speaking to a huge crowd gathered downtown for the annual Michigan AFL-CIO Labor Day parade.

Mr. Biden’s spoke for 13 minutes near the end of the parade route on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Washington Boulevard. His speech focused on pro-union and pro-worker issues.

Mr. Biden addressed the American Federation of Teachers’ national convention in Detroit on July 29 and spoke at a rally at Detroit Renaissance High School on Aug. 22 during a Michigan stop that also included fund-raising events.

President Barack Obama, who was in Toledo today, spoke at Detroit’s Labor Day parade in 2011.
