Quinnipiac survey still finds Obama leading 50-45

President Obama holds on to a 5-point advantage in Ohio over Republican challenger Mitt Romney in the newest swing state poll out today from Quinnipiac University.

Mr. Obama leads Mr. Romney by 50-45, unchanged from the last poll, released Oct. 22, according to the new poll conducted with CBS News and the New York Times.

The poll shows women backing Mr. Obama 56-39 percent, and men backing Mr. Romney 50-44 percent, both virtually unchanged.

Independent voters favor Mr. Romney 49–43 percent, according to the Connecticut-based polling institute.

In Ohio’s U.S. Senate race, Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown leads State Treasurer Josh Mandel, the Republican challenger, 51 percent to 42 percent.

Ohio voters approve 49–37 percent of the job Gov. John Kasich is doing, the poll found.

Quinnipiac interviewed 1,110 likely Ohio voters Oct. 23-28. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
