Two-term Seneca County Commissioner Ben Nutter, who supported demolition of the county’s historic 1884 courthouse, lost his bid for re-election.

Mr. Nutter was defeated by Tiffin businessman Fred Zoeller by a wide margin.

Also in Seneca County, Republican Holly Stacy defeated independent Paul Shoemaker, a former county maintenance worker who was fired after announcing his candidacy for commissioner.

Ms. Stacy, who works as president and chief executive officer of the Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce in Fremont, will take the seat of two-term Comissioner Dave Sauber, who was defeated in the March GOP primary.

Mr. Sauber had cast the lone vote against demolishing the courthouse.
