Partial recount of levy votes is set
11/29/2012The Lucas County Board of Elections on Wednesday selected, at random, 18 precincts to be recounted Dec. 6 to make sure Imagination Station won its levy fairly.
A recount of 5 percent of the vote is required by law because the Toledo science museum levy won passage by less than one-half of 1 percent of the total vote. The precincts to be recounted were plucked out of a box by a Republican and a Democratic member of the board taking turns.
The levy was behind in the unofficial vote count on Election Night by 1,075 votes, but the addition of more than 9,000 provisional, absentee, and remade paper ballots pushed the 0.17-mill levy request into the passed category by 306 votes.
