WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Bob Latta (R., Bowling Green) has been named vice chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, the committee chairman announced Wednesday.

The appointment for the upcoming 113th Congress by U.S. Rep. Fred Upton (R., Mich.) must be ratified by the Republican caucus.

Mr. Latta issued a statement thanking Mr. Upton for the appointment.

“At a time when our economy is still struggling to recover and accelerated job creation is needed, I look forward to working with my colleagues on the committee to promote policies that will spur economic growth and innovation in the telecommunications sector and achieve meaningful regulatory reforms,” he said.

Mr. Latta already serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee, as well as the subcommittees on Communications and Technology, Environment and the Economy, and Health, in addition to serving as an assistant whip.
