Toledo is the planned site of a statewide forum on immigration reform in early April that is expected to draw advocates from across the Midwest.

Tentative dates for the event are April 10 or 11, said Baldemar Velasquez, president of Toledo-based Farm Labor Organizing Committee.

The event is sponsored by FLOC and the AFL-CIO Ohio International Office. Details of the event’s location are still being worked out, Mr. Velasquez said.

The goal of the event is to bring together “proimmigration advocates so that they can begin to mobilize and call upon elected officials at the federal level to support immigration reform,” Mr. Velasquez said.
