Public invited to attend water-service hearing

10/19/2013

Toledo Councilman Lindsay Webb has invited city water customers, residents, and business owners who have had trouble with water service or bills to attend a hearing next week.

Ms. Webb, who is pushing for legislation to give more rights to water customers, expects discussion on her proposals to create of a customer bill of rights, establish an appeal board not solely controlled by the department of public utilities, and increase notification time for shutoff at a nonowner property.

She said anyone who has appealed a bill, tried to find information on customer rights, and has had water shut off by a landlord should consider attending the public utilities committee hearing at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
