Former Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro has joined the Toledo-based law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick in a capacity known as “of counsel.”

Mr. Petro was elected to two terms as Ohio’s auditor before serving as attorney general from 2003 to 2007. He ran an unsuccessful campaign for the Republican nomination for governor in 2006 and served in an appointed position as chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents from 2011 to 2013.

Mark Wagoner, a partner at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick and a former state senator, said Mr. Petro will be active in the firm’s offices in Toledo, Columbus, and Sarasota, Fla., working on special projects and serving as a resource to the firm and its clients.
