Former NFL linebacker Dennis Dirt Winston, the University of Toledo s defensive line coach for the past two seasons, has left

the Rockets program to take a similar job with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League.

Winston, who coached linebackers at UT from 2001-02, was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers out of the University of Arkansas

in 1977 and played eight seasons. He won two Super Bowl rings with the Steelers before finishing his playing career at New Orleans.

Winston, 48, was an assistant at Arkansas, Grambling, Norfolk State, Arkansas State, Slippery Rock and Grove City College before he was hired by Toledo coach Tom Amstutz.

Dennis did a fine job, helping us win two MAC championships and go to three bowl games, said Amstutz. We wish him well at Edmonton.
