DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers might activate Gary Sheffield from the disabled list as early as today.

President and general manager Dave Dombrowski said Sheffield was scheduled to fly to Detroit for a meeting with team officials today. Sheffield has been on a minor league rehabilitation assignment with Single-A Lakeland since the start of last week.

A left oblique strain forced Sheffield to the disabled list May 27. He batted .154 (2-for-13) and hit two home runs in five games with Lakeland.
