Eberflus likely to join Browns staff
2/21/2009INDIANAPOLIS - Browns coach Eric Mangini will fill his vacancy at linebackers coach with Missouri defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, sources said.
Eberflus is a Toledo native and former linebacker with the Rockets. He interviewed for Toledo's head coach position last year.
Eberflus' background is in the defensive secondary. He has been coordinator for seven of his eight years at Missouri. Before that, he coached the secondary at Toledo after starting out as recruiting coordinator. He has worked at both colleges under Gary Pinkel.
Pinkel is a good friend of former Browns assistant Nick Saban and that is the apparent connection to Mangini.
Linebackers coach was the most prominent vacancy on Mangini's staff.
