Roethlisberger comes up in another suit

RENO, Nev. - A former restaurant worker claims he was fired because he had demanded to see identification for a young-looking woman at Ben Roethlisberger's table where the NFL quarterback and his friends were drinking.

Alvaro Brito, a former assistant manager at the Cabo Wabo Cantina at Harrah's Lake Tahoe who had worked for the company for 12 years, said in a lawsuit filed against the hotel-casino and its Lake Tahoe president John Koster that he was fired in July, 2008.

The new lawsuit, filed Sept. 25 in Washoe County District Court in Reno and first reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal, does not name Roethlisberger as a defendant. But it potentially has a connection to a separate lawsuit filed by another former Harrah's employee against the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Koster, and a number of Harrah's officials alleging that Roethlisberger raped her at the hotel in July, 2008, and that the company covered it up.

PRATTVILLE, Ala. - Lorena Ochoa successfully defended her Navistar LPGA Classic title, overcoming early troubles to shoot a 2-under 70 for a four-stroke victory over Michelle Wie and Brittany Lang.

Ochoa snapped an 11-start winless streak dating to the Corona Championship in late April.

Fourteen-year-old Alexis Thompson shot her second straight 74 to tie for 27th.

•TIMONIUM, Md. - Jay Haas charged past Tom Watson to win the Senior Players Championship by a stroke, birdieing the 18th hole to match the course record with a 6-under 64 in the final Champions Tour major of the season.

•VERONA, N.Y. - Matt Kuchar and Vaughn Taylor were still tied after two holes in a sudden-death playoff at the Turning Stone Resort Championship when play was suspended because of darkness, forcing them to finish today.
