Red Wings' Osgood gains 400th victory

12/28/2010

DENVER — Niklas Kronwall scored the game-winner with 1:18 remaining in overtime and Chris Osgood stopped a season-high 46 shots in the Detroit Red Wings' 4-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche Monday night to become the 10th goalie in NHL history to reach 400 wins.

Nicklas Lidstrom, Jiri Hudler and Johan Franzen also scored for the Red Wings, who have won three of their past four games.

Osgood was swarmed by teammates after reaching the milestone win. The 17-year veteran has 316 of his wins with the Red Wings.

Matt Duchene scored twice for Colorado and T.J. Galiardi added another. The Avs have dropped three straight games.

Kronwall scored the winner on a power play following a tripping call on Avs goalie Peter Budaj.

Red Wings' Cleary out at least a month

DENVER — The Detroit Red Wings will be without forward Daniel Cleary for at least a month after he broke his left ankle on a shot attempt by a teammate Sunday in Minnesota.

The team has recalled forward Jan Mursak from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League to take his place. Mursak arrived in Denver yesterday and participated in the team's skate. He played last night.

Cleary was injured in the third period against the Wild when a shot from Brad Stuart struck his ankle. Cleary scored his team-leading 16th goal earlier in the game.

Kris Draper says the injury to Cleary is a "big blow for our hockey team." The Red Wings already are without Pavel Datsyuk (hand) and Mike Modano (wrist).
