CLEVELAND -- Shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and the Cleveland Indians have agreed to a one-year contract worth $2,025,000, avoiding salary arbitration.

Cabrera made $437,500 last year, when he hit .276 with 16 doubles and 29 RBIS in 97 games. He was sidelined from May 18 to July 18 with a broken left forearm.

Three Indians remain in arbitration: relief pitchers Chris Perez and Rafael Perez, and outfielder Shin-Soo Choo. If they don't settle, they will exchange proposed arbitration figures with the team on Tuesday.

CINCINNATI -- Joey Votto finalized a $38 million, three-year contract on Monday that allows the Cincinnati Reds to avoid going to arbitration with the National League MVP.

The first baseman was an All-Star last season, finishing second in the league with a .324 batting average and third with 37 homers and 113 RBIs.
