Penske Racing announced this morning that Defiance native Sam Hornish Jr. will drive in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event this weekend in New Hampshire.

Hornish replaced A.J. Allmendinger in Saturday's race after NASCAR temporarily suspended Allmendinger for failing a random drug test.

"Penske Racing is continuing to work with NASCAR to follow its process and procedures related to the positive drug test that AJ Allmendinger was notified of this past weekend," the racing team said in a statement issued this morning. "While this process continues, Sam Hornish Jr. will drive the No. 22 car in this week's Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway."

Hornish finished 33rd on Saturday at the Coke Zero 400 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
