A difficult road to the NFL just got more difficult for former University of Toledo star Eric Page.

The Denver Broncos waived Page on Wednesday for medical reasons on the eve of training camp. Page, who was expected to vie for a role as a returner, tore his ACL during a recent workout, according to a person familiar with the situation.

The injury marks another setback for the Springfield graduate, who left school a year early but was not selected in April's draft. Denver gave him a signing bonus of $1,085 and an opportunity to prove himself in camp.

Surgery is required of most ACL tears, followed by about a year of recovery.

Page's 306 receptions at UT are most in program and Mid-American Conference history.
