The New Orleans Hornets signed St. John's Jesuit graduate Brian Roberts as a free agent on Thursday.

The 6-foot, 1-inch guard played on the squad's summer league team last month.

Roberts played in all five summer league games and averaged 13.8 points, 2.2 assists, and 2.0 rebounds in 27.4 minutes per game while shooting 50 percent from the field.

The 2003 All-Blade basketball player of the year and the Division I co-player of the year in 2004, Roberts led the Titans to the state final.

Roberts played for Brose Baskets Bamberg in Germany last season and helped lead the team to the German National Championship after averaging 8.6 points and 2.2 assists. Roberts played four seasons at Dayton but went undrafted in the 2008 NBA draft.
